Helping People Is What I Look Forward To Every Day

Being a therapist is inspiring. I love learning from my clients and watching their lives flourish. The most rewarding thing about being a therapist is seeing a person walk away lighter, more free, and excited about their life.

I have a natural ability to:

  • Explain mental health symptoms in an easy to understand way
  • Inspire hope for getting better
  • Accept people for who they are and their current life circumstances in a non-judgemental manner
  • Help clients heal their past and manage the present
  • Be empathic yet down-to-earth

People who know me often say that I am a good listener who can be fully present for people’s stories, even if they are difficult stories. I am committed to checking in with you as we go to ensure we’re on the right track towards positive change.

My Professional Background

I am a clinical social worker trained to provide psychotherapy. I have a master’s degree in social work and hold advanced licensure specializing in clinical areas of social work (LCSW-C). I am licensed and insured in Maryland and New Jersey. I have been providing individual therapy for over 20 years and consider it to be my passion and my calling.

Additionally, I am a certified trauma specialist and a certified adolescent trauma therapist. This intense training has prepared me to treat those who have suffered a traumatic experience such as childhood abuse, physical or emotional neglect, domestic violence, rape, or violent crimes. I learned how to best utilize various therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Art Therapy, Psychoeducation and Somatic Experiencing to best help those in need.

As A Therapist, I Embrace The Following Philosophies

  • I believe that survivors are not defined by what happened to them
  • I believe that therapy should address the person as a whole – their mind, body, and spirit
  • I believe that people underestimate their ability to change. It’s possible to change. It’s possible to enjoy life again.
  • I believe that loving and accepting ourselves for who we are, scars and all, is one of the most courageous things we can do
  • I believe that we can stop feeling shame when we share our story with someone who can hear it with empathy and understanding

Our Sessions Are Focused On You

Sessions will provide you with the space to express your thoughts and feelings. In feeling safe and comfortable, you’ll feel understood and heard.

It’s important to me to check in on how you feel things are going during therapy. I want you to feel like you are making progress and reaching your goals. There isn’t a “one size fits all” approach to therapy. Our sessions will fit your specific needs and concerns.
